Register for Classes

Your Stellic Planner is the easiest way to register for classes. Use your individualized, 4-year plan as the base to build your schedule.

Learn how to build your schedule from the Stellic Planner in this video.

Please note that just adding classes to your Stellic Planner does not enroll you in those classes. Once you are ready, click the blue horizontal button "Confirm Courses for Registration" and complete registration.  Check your schedule to confirm that you are enrolled.

For instructions on how to enroll go to Student Central on Union, watch this video on Register for Classes in Stellic, or see instructions here.

You can view registration holds both in Stellic or in SOAR (Student Online Advising Records).

In Stellic, it shows up as a red banner at the top of each page.  In SOAR, you can click on the Academic tab and see all of the information under "Holds."

You will want to have holds on your record released before your enrollment date for the next term.

View your Enrollment Date in Stellic or in SOAR (Student Online Advising Records).

In Stellic, your enrollment date appears in a yellow banner on your homepage.  For SOAR, it is in the Home page under "Active Enrollment Dates."

Your Enrollment Date is the earliest date and time you can register for classes. It is set by the Office of the Registrar and is based on the total number of credits you have completed. You cannot change your enrollment date.

Are the classes you want full? Waitlist! We encourage waitlisting because there is a possibility that you could get into your preferred class. Learn more about waitlisting and get tips from Student Central on Union.  Here are the steps for waitlisting in Stellic:

Are you getting an error telling you that the class is restricted or that you haven’t met course requisites?

  • Look up the course in Stellic Course Search
  • Read the section details for the section you’re trying to enroll in. Follow any instructions in the section details.
  • Need to contact the instructor for permission? Look up their email in the IU Directory.
  • Haven’t met the course prerequisites? Contact your advisor to discuss appropriate alternate courses.

Sometimes holds or other issues prevent students from registering before the semester begins. If you're in this situation, here's what you need to know.

Registering during or after the second week of classes

  • Starting the Monday of the second week of classes, adding a class requires instructor approval.
  • Contact the instructors for classes you plan to add as soon as possible to discuss your situation. If the instructor allows, begin attending class.
  • Submit add requests through the eDrop/eAdd task in One.IU.
  • Meet with your advisor to consult on your plan for the term.
