To ensure that all undergraduate students make appropriate progress toward completion of a degree, new first-time students are required to enter a degree-granting program by the end of their third semester of enrollment (excluding summers) and new transfer students are required to enter a degree-granting program by the end of their second semester of enrollment at Indiana University-Bloomington (excluding summers).
IU Exploratory, Pre-Business, and Pre-Nursing students will receive an Exceeds Hrs Certification registration hold if they have not entered their major within the above timeline.
If you have the Exceeds Hrs Certification hold, no enrollment is allowed for the next term until you meet with your assigned advisor or another Advising & Major Exploration Services advisor and develop a feasible plan for entering a major within the upcoming term. During your appointment, you and your advisor will discuss your degree progress and create a feasible plan to enter a major.
